Until December 2003, only two "comprehensive"
biographies had been written for adult readers, although many children's
books feature Tubman. Three recent biographies
-- the most complete and thoroughly researched books on Tubman --
have now been published. They will greatly advance our picture of
the historic figure of Harriet Tubman.
